【主講人簡介】

Dr. Terry A. Ring is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Utah. He studied at several universities in the USA and in England and became an educator that has taught and done research in the USA, China, Japan and Europe. His research covers a range from Colloidal Chemistry and Chemical Engineering to Materials Science and Engineering with an emphasis on fundamentals and process modeling.

【內(nèi)容簡介】

A 60 cm diameter, down-flow, axial-flow combustion system utilizing various ratios of oxygen to CO2 for combustion of various types of coal has been studied.  Coal combustion analyses using high-speed visible and high-speed mid-infrared video cameras has been performed to determine 1) coal particle size distribution, 2) coal particle temperature distribution, 3) coal particle temperature, 4) soot cloud flamelet size and shapes and 5) soot cloud heat up and cool down dynamics.  Finally, frequency analysis of the video images are performed giving a Fourier transform power spectrum with resonance characteristics associated with the frequency at which coal particles and flamelets pass by, and power spectrum decay that is characteristic of isotropic turbulence.
